Special Exhibit Commemorates Polk Home Bicentennial

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Polk Home’s construction, the original exhibit “West to Prosperity: The Polk Home at 200” shows how the Polks and other frontier families transformed Tennessee wilderness and canebrakes into thriving farms and growing towns. The exhibit features period artifacts including a Conestoga wagon and re-created historical scenes such as a law office and a blacksmith shop.

The James K. Polk Home and Museum is located at 301 W. 7th Street in downtown Columbia, TN.

Free parking is available in the lot across 7th Street or along High Street on the east side of the main house.
